Getting started

Two ways to start a health certificate

In Kruiz Control, a booking is a health certificate. There are two ways to start one — pick whichever's faster for you today.

Path 1 ยท Do it yourself

Start a booking in Kruiz Control

Best when the pet owner is in the clinic or on the phone and you have their details in front of you. Three quick steps:

  1. 1
Start a new bookingGo to Bookings and click + New Booking.
  2. 2
Add the customerSelect an existing pet owner or add a new one with their contact details.
  3. 3
Add the petAdd a new pet and fill in its details. To cut the typing, use “Prefill with AI” — upload a rabies cert, microchip record, or photo and Kruiz fills the fields for you to review. It's a great shortcut!

Path 2 ยท Let the owner do it

Send an intake link

The owner fills in the pet and travel details themselves — so the right country-specific certificate starts correctly, with no data entry for you.

Exciting news: the intake form is about to get even smarter — big improvements are landing soon! ๐ŸŽ‰

The flow

Every certificate, start to finish

Once your clinic's set up, the same simple flow runs for every pet that travels.

โ„น๏ธ These six steps cover about 95% of certificates. A few destinations require additional testing and follow a slightly longer path — Kruiz flags those automatically and shows the extra steps right in your dashboard.

๐Ÿš€
Step 1

Start the certificate

Kick it off one of two ways (both shown above): start a booking yourself, or email your client an intake link. Most send the link — then your client fills in the details.

You
๐Ÿ“
Step 2

Fill in the details

Your client fills it in from the intake link — you're pinged the moment it lands — or you enter it yourself. As soon as the pet and travel details are in, Kruiz instantly checks the destination rules and builds your travel checklist — and the pet owner's own view of it too, if they used the intake link.

Step 3

Physical exam & review

Perform the exam, then confirm the details and fill in or verify anything missing — microchip number, rabies vaccination dates, and the like.

Step 4

Kruiz stages your VEHCS certificate

Once you've confirmed all the details and paid the per-certificate fee, Kruiz stages your VEHCS health certificate — filled out and ready for you to review and sign.

Step 5

Review, sign & send

Give it a once-over, sign it, and send it to the USDA — right from your dashboard.

Step 6

Get it back, ready to fly

We track the endorsement and ping you the second it's approved — follow every cert under Certificates. Exactly how it comes back depends on the destination — digital or wet-ink — see the breakdown just below.

How your certificate comes back

Some destinations accept a digital endorsement; others still require the original ink-signed certificate. Kruiz flags which path each destination needs — you don't have to look it up.

๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Digital endorsementโœ๏ธ Wet-ink (physical)
When it appliesThe destination accepts an electronic certificate. The destination requires the original ink-signed certificate.
How it's endorsedYou e-sign in VEHCS and the USDA endorses it electronically — the approved certificate lands right back in your dashboard. The certificate is printed out, physically signed and dated in blue wet ink, then shipped to the USDA office for endorsement.
ShippingNone — fully paperless.FedEx both ways. Choose Kruiz as your shipping provider and we generate the labels (outbound + return) for you — the return comes to your clinic's address on file. You can also send the return to your client's address instead of the clinic.

Questions

Frequently asked

What does Kruiz do?
Kruiz automates international pet-travel health certificates end to end โ€” intake, compliance checks, submission, and shipping โ€” so your team spends less time on paperwork.
What makes Kruiz Control different?
Older tools mostly digitize the same paperwork you already do โ€” Kruiz actually does the work. It's more modern, more automated, and more flexible:
  • Two ways to collect data โ€” a client-led intake portal or vet-led entry, so you choose what fits your workflow.
  • AI autofill built in โ€” no separate browser extension to install. Upload a record or photo and AI parses it for you to review, so data entry stays minimal.
  • Airline rules, not just country rules โ€” crate sizes and breed restrictions cross-checked against the specific airline.
  • Automatic CDC rabies path for high-risk return countries, created alongside the health certificate.
  • Customization per certificate โ€” decide who handles shipping on each one, see the FedEx cost up front and route the return label where you want (both coming soon).
  • Revenue tracking + rewards โ€” see what your practice earns per certificate and hit milestones as you go.
  • Calendar sync, a public roadmap, and a connected consumer app โ€” so the whole pet-owner journey ties together and you always see what's shipping next.
And you can try it risk-free โ€” your first 3 certificates are on us, so you can compare for yourself.
Can Kruiz help us grow our health-certificate business?
Yes โ€” that's the biggest shift. At a lot of clinics, international certificates are a behind-the-scenes favor that one accredited vet quietly handles, often only for clients they know well. Because Kruiz automates the compliance and supports your whole team, more of your vets can offer them confidently โ€” so it becomes a service you can actively promote and grow, instead of one you hope no one asks about.
Which pets and trips are covered?
Dogs and cats traveling non-commercially, across 40+ countries today and growing weekly.
Do you handle domestic / interstate travel?
Not yet. Today Kruiz handles international travel certificates only. Domestic CVI / eCVI (within-country, interstate certificates of veterinary inspection) is on the roadmap โ€” it's not supported right now.
What does Kruiz cost?
The standard plan is $300/month. Early-partner clinics have custom pricing โ€” monthly rate, per-certificate fee, and any free certificates โ€” set per their agreement.
I'm in the early partner program โ€” how does my pricing work?
Your custom pricing is applied to your account after setup to reflect what you agreed with your Kruiz contact, so it won't match the standard rates shown at sign-up. Any questions, reach out to your Kruiz contact directly.
How do my customers start?
You send them an intake link from Customer Intake. They complete the travel details themselves โ€” the address autofills, dates format correctly for the destination, and they can save and resume anytime.
We don't use the intake portal โ€” can we still start a certificate?
Yes — that's Path 1 above. Go to Bookings → + New Booking, add the customer, then add the pet (use “Prefill with AI” to skip the typing).
What if a certificate needs extra testing?
About 95% of certificates run the same six steps. Some destinations require additional testing โ€” like a rabies titer test โ€” and follow a slightly longer path. Kruiz flags those automatically and shows the extra steps right in your dashboard, so you're never guessing.
Can customers book appointments with us directly?
Yes. The confirmation email links to your own booking page, so customers schedule with you the way they always have.
How do shipping labels work?
Some destinations require the original wet-ink certificate โ€” printed, signed and dated in blue ink, then shipped to the USDA office (see the "How it comes back" breakdown above). On those, you choose who handles shipping: pick Kruiz and we generate the FedEx labels (outbound + return) automatically and email them to your clinic's profile email, with the return coming to your clinic address on file. Kruiz doesn't take any cut on shipping โ€” you pay FedEx's rate, nothing more. Prefer to ship it yourself? You can โ€” and you won't be charged for it. You'll see the FedEx cost up front during intake. It's not a fee we add โ€” it's so you can pass shipping through to the client instead of quietly absorbing it, which protects your margin.
Who pays the endorsement fee?
Your clinic pays the USDA endorsement fee on your VEHCS portal.
Can we track revenue?
Yes โ€” fill out your service items and use the Insights dashboard to see revenue across bookings.
Watch it in action
Record revenue & update service items
What if we delete something by accident?
Deletes are soft, so the record stays recoverable for auditing.
Can you import our existing client list?
Bulk import is coming soon. For now, customers and pets are added as bookings come in.
Who do we contact for help?
Your Kruiz onboarding team is your direct line โ€” reach out anytime during setup and beyond.
